Hey! I’m Ashley
How I got here…
Growing up in a large family and helping my parents host gatherings, I was bound to become familiar with planning events. In college, I planned the weekly gatherings for 100+ Jr High students, as well as the youth group summer and winter camps, which were the highlights of my year.
A few years down the line, I found myself working as a nurse assistant with patients with dementia and patients on hospice. It stretched me in new ways, and outside of learning to care for these seniors’ ever-shifting needs, it also widened my perspective on the importance of relationships — especially in significant, tender seasons of life.
I married my best friend, Jordan, in 2017. We had a simple backyard wedding, complete with tacos, a live band, and pie. Our first look was at our favorite local coffee shop, which is still my highlight of the day.
As I was planning our wedding, I spent hours researching how to pull off an affordable wedding. Our priority was ensuring our guests had a good time, but I still had dreams of a beautiful day. In the end, we stuck to our budget, and I love how our day came together.
Shortly after we got married, I interned for a wedding planner, Maxine at Willow & Wine, and fell in love with bringing other people’s visions to life. Maxine was quick to bring me into the fold, and I learned so much watching her coordinate with vendors and iron out kinks and calm wedding-day nerves.
Soon after that season, Ashley Ruiz Events was born. I began coordinating weddings and started cultivating my own community in the wedding industry.
It’s been a privilege to help couples create their dream weddings and lighten the load of all the moving parts so they can enjoy their day.
